The Internet: A Global Free Space with Limited State Control

The internet was originally seen as a new technology that would contribute greatly to freedom of expression. However, internet technology also has implications for other human rights, especially the right to privacy. Governments and companies are increasingly offering their services online. The AIV believes that it would be a good idea for the Dutch human rights ambassador to conduct human rights dialogues not only with other countries but also with major internet companies.
