The Rule of Law: Safeguard for European Citizens and Foundation of European Cooperation

In the advisory report ‘The Rule of Law: Safeguard for European Citizens and Foundation of European Cooperation’, the AIV notes that, thanks to the EU’s four freedoms – free movement of goods, services, capital and persons – EU citizens are entitled to make demands on member states of which they are not nationals. The European Union can and must do more to help safeguard the rule of law in the member states.
