Climate Change and Security

In this advisory letter, produced at the request of the Minister of Defence, the AIV arrives at the conclusion that the armed forces will be deployed more often in the future as a result of climate change. The increased deployment will be in response to climate-related natural disasters, such as hurricanes and floods. In addition, during crisis management operations the armed forces may face conflict situations caused or exacerbated by climate change.
