Society and the Armed Forces

In the AIV’s view, the government should actively strive to generate public support for the military operation in Uruzgan, Afghanistan. Public support for the armed forces is extremely important, both in general terms and in the context of specific military operations. To enhance public support the government should communicate clearly concerning the following five factors: legitimacy, interests and values, success, leadership and costs (including the risk of casualties).
