This realisation dawned back in the 1970s, and 30 years later was put back on the agenda by MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Given the practical challenges of today’s reality, offering a clear analysis is no simple task, but in the report ‘The Influence of Culture and Religion on Development: Stimulus or Stagnation?’, the AIV makes a series of recommendations aimed at fostering a constructive approach.
